What is NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards)?

Definition

The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) are K-12 science standards developed in 2013 by 26 states and the National Research Council. NGSS organizes learning around three dimensions: Science and Engineering Practices (what scientists do), Crosscutting Concepts (themes that span disciplines), and Disciplinary Core Ideas (the content). Performance Expectations integrate all three dimensions into a single statement.
