The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects the privacy of student education records. Here is how WorksheetGen aligns with FERPA requirements for K-12 schools and districts.

Our FERPA commitments

WorksheetGen does not collect, store, or process education records as defined under FERPA (34 CFR Part 99).

Teacher-generated worksheet content is not classified as an education record. It is the teacher's intellectual output, not student data.

We do not use any user input -- teacher prompts, worksheet content, or account information -- to train AI models.

Student names, grades, scores, and personally identifiable information are never required to use our service.

If a school or district integrates WorksheetGen with a student information system, a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) is executed before any data flows.

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256).

Teachers can delete their account and all associated data at any time from their dashboard settings.

We do not sell, rent, or share user data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Our infrastructure provider (Vercel) maintains SOC 2 Type II certification.

Audit logs are maintained for administrative access to production systems.

FERPA FAQ

Does WorksheetGen access student education records?+

No. WorksheetGen generates worksheets based on teacher inputs (topic, grade, subject). We do not access, store, or process student education records, grades, or assessment results.

Can I use WorksheetGen in a FERPA-compliant school?+

Yes. Because we do not handle education records, standard FERPA restrictions on third-party data sharing do not apply. For districts requiring a DPA, we provide one upon request.

Does WorksheetGen train AI on my content?+

No. We never use teacher inputs, generated worksheets, or any user data to train, fine-tune, or improve AI models. Generation uses commercial API endpoints with enterprise-grade data protection.

What happens if a student name appears in a worksheet prompt?+

Our content moderation system detects and blocks PII (names, emails, phone numbers, SSNs) before it reaches the AI. If PII is detected, the generation is blocked and the teacher is prompted to remove it.

Can we get a Data Processing Agreement?+
